The Dirtchamber Sessions Volume One

If your big on your music and do not own The Dirtchamber Sessions Volume One, then I got bad news for you. That’s pretty embarrassing, however that’s just my opinion.

Release back in February 1999, this release is considered one of the best DJ-Mix albums of all time. To me, it’s #1.

I honestly have no idea how many times I have listened to this album start to finish. I think it’s in the thousands. I listened to it 4 times today!

Dirtchamber Sessions was done by Liam Howlett of The Prodigy and it was initially produced for BBC Radio 1′s mix show The Breezeblock. There are 48 tunes from many artists mixed, scratched and cut.

To stop bootleg copies from the show, an official album was released. A few tunes did not make the final cut because of permission to use. My view on this issue is total bullshit. Those money hungry fucks can.. ahh never mind.

I cannot believe this came out 12 years ago. Waiting for Volume Two, c’mon Liam.

Music For The Jilted Generation

This album (Music For The Jilted Generation) is a a protest against an act by the British government which enabled the policemen to take greater measures against partygoers. Jilted here means something like betrayed (the goverment betrayed youth). “How can the government stop young people having a good time. Fight this bollocks” – The Prodigy.

Quick Future Music Melbourne Review

Zane Lowe

Zane Lowe

Here is my quick 2 cents on Future Music Festival, Melbourne.

Kesha was actually pretty awesome. I only knew one song of hers. So I’m impressed. However around the second last track, I crowd surfed out of there. The crowd was insane. It was my first ever crowd surf, so much fun!

Pendulum. Most of you know, that I’m not a fan of these guys. I do like a few of their tracks. Anyway I won’t get into it. Pendulum were actually freaking awesome! Put on a great show.

Chemical Brothers. Oh man, I was looking forward to these guys. I do see them as one hit one album wonders. Meaning, each album has one track that gets attention and then dead until next album release. Their show was actually disappointing. I stayed until they played my favourite track Chemical Beats.

Zane Lowe. Fuck me. I love this guy. The best out of everyone. He is a legend. That is all.

Anyhow, had a great fucking night.

Phil Collins Retires.

Phil Collins

Phil Collins

So, one of my favourite artists has confirmed his retirement. Phil Collins.

This kinda sucks and it’s kinda does not suck. It sucks because I will never get the chance to see him live. The reason it does not suck, I think his best is behind him and also so he can now be a full time father to his two young sons on a daily basis.

Tracks I love to hear all the time are: Easy Lover, Another Day In Paradise, Something Happened on the Way to Heaven, One More Night, Sussudio & In The Air Tonight.

Phil Collins is great. I mean. I really don’t like many artists. I like Phil Collins, Does It Offend You Yeah?, Oasis & The Prodigy.

Anyhow, this is straight from his website:

Greetings to all, I’ve decided to write this in response to the articles that surfaced last weekend regarding my retirement. Why they were printed at all is a mystery, as I haven’t spoken to anybody in the press for a few months.
However, many of the articles printed over the last few months have ended up painting a picture of me that is more than a little distorted. Therefore, I would like to add my comments and try to explain again my reasons for calling it a day.

1/ I’m not stopping because of dodgy reviews or bad treatment in the press.
2/ I’m not stopping because I don’t feel loved, I know I still have a very large fanbase that loves what I do. Thank you.
3/ I’m not stopping because I don’t fit in, this was proved with “Going Back” reaching No 1 in the UK, and doing incredibly well worldwide.
4/ I’m not stopping so I can dive full time into my interest for the Alamo.
I am stopping so I can be a full time father to my two young sons on a daily basis.
Some of the things mentioned above have been said by me in various interviews, but said as asides with a smile on my face and in passing. They were not meant to be “headlines”, they were small parts of a conversation. This clearly doesn’t come over in print and I should know better.
However, the result is that I have ended up sounding like a tormented weirdo who thinks he was at the Alamo in another life, who feels very sorry for himself, and is retiring hurt because of the bad press over the years.
None of this is true.
Thanks for all your messages on the Forum regarding this stuff, it means a lot that you care. But there’s no need for the straitjacket !
